Senior Dance:
A senior dance will be held on Friday at the WPA Building on North Park Street in Carrollton. Tickets are $5. The Country Time Band will perform between 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The event starts at 7 p.m.

Annie Stevens Percussion Concert
Annie Stevens, a former UWG faculty member, will hold a concert Friday at 7 p.m. in the Kathy Cashen Recital Hall on the UWG campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Court House Annex Demolished

Crews were busy Monday razing the Historic Court House Annex in downtown Carrollton to make way for the atrium to the $16.9 million new Carroll County Court House. The Historic Court House will remain untouched.

Officials expect the area that previously housed the Annex to be completely cleared by the end of the week, with work to begin on the two-story atrium within the next few weeks. The entrance to the new Court House is expected to be finished by January of next year.

Inmate Gardens a Savings to Local Taxpayers

For the third straight year, inmates at the Carroll County Prison are busy preparing the ground near the Public Works Department for their inmate garden. Not only will the garden offset some of the costs of feeding the inmates, said Deputy Warden Tim Tant, but it also gives them life skills for when they’re released.

“It’s really just to help as far as the inmates go,” he said. “It gives them some fresh vegetables and some pride in growing their own food.”

County Buys State-of-the-Art Rescue Boat

At a meeting late last year, the Carroll County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to purchase a state-of-the-art rescue boat to help keep its citizens safe. On Tuesday, the boat arrived, towed all the way from Pennsylvania by the owner of the small, family-owned company, Rock Proof Boats.

Carroll Rec & Central H.S. Offering Summer Camps

Looking for a way your kids can get out of the house and get some exercise? The Carroll County Recreation Department and Central High School have teamed up to offer three weeks of sports-focused summer camps beginning this June. All the camps cost $30 per participant and are held at on the Central High School campus and run by the school's coaches.

County Opens Buffalo Creek Technology Park

The Buffalo Creek Technology Park is open for business. The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce hosted a “site managers” meeting at the site last Friday, which included Commission Chairman Bill Chappell, Carrollton Mayor Wayne Garner and a large group of dignitaries from the state government.
