It's election day in Carroll County and Georgia, so don't forget to cast your ballot and make your voice heard. All precincts will remain open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters are required to vote in their assigned voting precinct. If you do not know where your assigned precinct is located, you can check online at The Georgia Secretary of State's My Voter Page. There is no voting in the Carroll County Board of Elections Office on election day.

Today, Friday July 27th, is the last day to cast an early ballot for the upcoming July 31st General Primary Election. All early voting takes place at the Carroll County Board of Elections Office (423 College Street in Carrollton) which closes today at 4:30 p.m. There will be no voting of any kind on Monday, July 30th.

Southwire's Back to School Giveaway This Saturday

The new school year is just around the corner and Southwire's Project GIFT is working to make sure students have all the supplies they need to succeed academically. That's right, it's time for the company's annual Back-to-School Supply Giveaway. This year's event will be held Saturday, July 21st from 9 a.m. to noon at the Southwire Corporate Parking Lot (1 Southwire Drive, Carrollton). The event is completely free and open to the public. Early Voting Continues This Week

It's that time of year again, time to exercise one of our most important civic duties, the right to vote. Early voting for the July 31st General Primary Election began on July 9th at the Carroll County Elections Office located at 423 College Street in downtown Carrollton. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Early voting ends on July 27th at 4:30 p.m.

UWG Added $418 Million toward Region Economy

The University of West Georgia continued to be a strong influence on the regional economy in fiscal year 2011, generating more than $418 million in spending by UWG and its students. This spending supported 3,880 area jobs and created a labor income impact of $186 million.

Our friends over at the Carrollton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau worked very hard on their free Visit Carrollton app for iOS devices. The app is a great resource for local attractions, restaurants, hotels, transportation and upcoming local events. It's even GPS enabled so you can find the attractions closest to you.

The app is a fun way to help plan your visit to Carrollton and Carroll County. If you're a resident, it can help you discover new parks and restaurants you may have overlooked.

Good Day Atlanta Visits Adamson Square

Fox 5's Paul Milliken was in town early Wednesday to film a segment for Good Day Atlanta about downtown Carrollton. The news segment highlighted Adamson Square as a gathering place for the community where people can come together, eat and shop all in one location. Milliken also spoke to Carrollton Main Street Director Jessica Reynolds about the newly opened amphitheater.

Chin-Cheng Hung Exhibit at the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center

The Carrollton Cultural Arts Center presents Depiction of Reality by artist Chin-Cheng Hung. The show will open with a reception on Friday, July 13, from 5-7 p.m.in the lobby. The public is invited to come meet the artist and view his work. The show runs through August 29, 2012. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Galleries are open Monday – Friday 9am-5pm (evening hours vary with events), Saturday 10am-2pm and closed on Sunday.
