Help or FAQ

It's both a "Help" page and a "Frequently Asked Questions" page because we here at Communications HQ are utilitarian. OK, already I'm getting away from what they teach you in "Writing a Help Page 101," which is to not use confusing words like utilitarian. So without further ado, let's get into the nuts and bolts of how to best find your way around GrowCarroll.com. I'll now be taking questions.

What's the deal with tags? What does it mean when a post is tagged as something?

Great question. Tags are going to be your go to when you want to learn everything that's contained in GrowCarroll.com on one particular topic. At the bottom right portion of the homepage, you'll notice a section titled "Tags," and below it, there is an alphabetized list of words. Think of these words as search terms. Instead of typing in a particular word in the search bar at the top of the screen, you can simply click on the word in the "Tags" section, and all stories that are tagged under that category will pop up. Each time we write a story, we associate certain tags with it. For instance, let's say you want to read everything we've done on taxes. Just scroll down to the "Tags" section and click "Taxes." It's that easy.

Over time, you'll notice that some tag words are bigger than others. That means that those tags have more stories associated with them. The bigger they are, the more content you can access by clicking on them.

What if I want to search for something that isn't in the "Tags" section?

No problem. If the search term you want to use is not a formalized tag, you can always enter the term into the search bar at the top right of the homepage. From there, it's just like using any other search engine, like Google or Yahoo. Hit enter, and watch the results appear.

I'm looking for a picture but no matter what I search, I still can't find it.

Instead of searching for certain words, try browsing our Media Archive. In the archive, pictures are divided into albums, which will help you narrow down your search quite a bit. While you're in the archive, check out some of the video and audio clips too; you could waste hours just browsing around.

Why does Grow Carroll's layout look misaligned or broken?

Grow Carroll was built using an open source content management system named Drupal 7.0. Because Drupal relies on HTML 5, older versions of web browsers may not be fully compatible with Grow Carroll. However, links to free up-to-date versions of the most popular web browsers are listed below:

Apple Safari 5
Google Chrome
Microsoft Internet Explorer 9
Mozilla Firefox
Opera Web Browser

I want to see more about county projects on GrowCarroll.com.

Well I'm glad you said something! If you guys ever want to see something that's not here or more of something that's already here, please email me or call me on my cell at (678) 449-7004.

I think I broke the internet.

Call me on my cell (see above).
