19th Annual Thomas A. Dorsey Festival Kicks Off June 28th

The 19th Annual Thomas A. Dorsey Birthplace Festival will kick off Friday, June 28th, with live jazz at the Mill Amphitheater between 5:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a performance by the Infinity Show Band beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The festival continues Saturday, June 29th, with Gospel Music from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.at Mount Prospect Church. Saturday night features the Blues in the Night & Fireworks from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a performance by the Rick Fowler Band beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Summer Concert Series Continues With The Return

Summer concerts at the Amp are set to continue this June with a performance by The Return, a Beatles tribute band from Atlanta. The concert kicks off Saturday, June 15th at 8:00 p.m. at the Amp in downtown Carrollton. The event is free and open to the public. Other musical acts scheduled to perform at the Amp include the Atlanta Rhythm Section on July 27th, country musician Tracy Lawrence on August 30th and The Alabama Blues Brothers on September 19th.

Carrollton Teen Theatre will hold auditions for the Musical Les Misérables (high school edition) directed by Kathy Waldrop for Ages 13-19. Auditions are Saturday, May 18 at 10AM and Monday May 20, at 6PM at the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center in the Theatre Rehearsal Room. (Call backs will be held May 21 at 6 pm if needed.) All actors should come prepared to sing (approx. 16 bars) a cappella or with accompaniment. FEE: $50 (includes T-Shirt) participation fee is due at first rehearsal. REHEARSALS: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-10 p.m.
